For most of us, we are constantly working towards a future ideal of our life or selves. This ideal self and life are not the person or life we are living today, but the person we are aiming to be in the future. This ideal self is not a state of perfection – or a fixed destination – it’s usually a few steps ahead of where we are now.

This version of ourselves is constantly evolving and changing as we grow. While we may eventually end up becoming the ideal version of ourselves at some point in the future, it’s likely at that time we may have a new ideal to chase.
